(This page under renewal for 2010)
There are many ways to show your support of WMDF:
- Volunteer as staff. WMDF relies on the work of volunteer staff to bring its message to Hakodate every year. We can accomodate all levels of commitment. Please see the staff recruitment page.
- Teach us languages. One of the goals of WMDF is to make ties of friendship across the world. Can you help us by teaching us some conversation skills in the languages of our groups (including English)?
- Translate text. Also to help us make ties with groups, we aim to increase the international content on our web pages. Especially, we hope to provide the "About WMDF" and "Concept" pages in as many languages as possible. Can you do one of these for us?
- Become a Sponsor. Sponsors are one of the mainstays of our financial well-being. Full details on sponsorship options can be found in the WMDF Supporters Form (see below soon).
- Become a Service Sponsor. WMDF has also been fortunate that several businesses have offered us practical support. For instance, Kirin beer gives us beer each year. If you have a business that can offer us physical instead of financial support, please let us know using the WMDF Supporters Form below (coming soon).
- Become a Friend of WMDF. A wide cross-section of society has supported us with personal contributions ranging from the folding of origami to the provision of kusu-dama. If you think there is something you can do for WMDF, we would be happy to have you as a Friend. (Again, please use the WMDF Supporters Form below, coming soon).
- Include your Business in the Sponsor Pass Booklet. For WMDF 2009, we started a system where businesses could offer benefits to pass holders instead of directly to WMDF itself. We were very pleased with the response to this initiative, with over 50 businesses participating. If you would be prepared to offer this service in 2010, please fill in the WMDF Supporters Form below (coming soon).
- Buy WMDF goods. During WMDF we sell original goods. We are working on setting up a web store on a permanent basis. Please watch this space.
- Give objects. To run a successful Festival, WMDF often needs to rely on the generosity of committee members to collect together goods such as hoovers and irons. Over the Long Now, we hope to build up a collection of useful objects. We will soon post here a list of things that we are looking to accumulate.
- Treat the artists. We have been fortunate that townspeople and organisations have been interested enough in WMDF to request to spend time with artists, for example at dinner parties. Since WMDF are the official sponsors of all artists visiting the Hakodate, we ask that those who wish to have special contact with specific groups please apply beforehand using the WMDF Artist Goodwill Form below (coming soon).
- Set up an educational link. We believe that WMDF offers exceptional educational opportunities. If you have a proposal for meaningful collaboration with a specific group, we would like to hear about it. Collaboration can commence before a WMDF starts and carry on after completion. The WMDF Education Link Form below will be coming soon.
- Run a booth at WMDF. Each year, the area around the stage is populated by shops selling world food and goods. If you believe you can add to the diversity of this area, please send us the WMDF Booth form below (coming soon).
- Buy a Sponsor pass. If you live in Hakodate, there are many ways to buy a Sponsor Pass. Lawson tickets also allows passes to be bought throughout Japan. WMDF appreciates all those who support our event in this way.
- Donate. We are also working on setting up a more general donations system. Please watch this space.
- Publicise WMDF. If you know a web site, newspaper, or other media outlet that would be interested in covering WMDF from any angle, we will do our best to cooperate.
- Attend. Our ultimate goal is to bring WMDF to as many people as possible. Please come to an event, and tell your friends.
- Tell us your WMDF experience. If you enjoyed WMDF, then we'd like to hear from you. We welcome feedback on our event, and especially hope to include voices of WMDF-goers in our forthcoming concept book and on our web site.
